3º the Tap Dance

In tap or Tap dance there is a great variety of styles and techniques that is why there are different ways to name your steps and different ways of teaching.

The name comes from the sound that the small metal plates placed in the dancer's shoes make when they hit the floor. Tap dance was called jazz dance, because jazz was the music used by tap dancers to perform it. But, tap jazz developed and went its separate way to become a new form in its own right and thus came the Claque or Tap dance.

On May 25, International Tap Day is celebrated.
